Soulmates

So, in my psycology class (before summer started) my teacher was talking about "soulmates".

He said that he believes they exist.

I'm not so sure.

In this series called the Black Dagger Brotherhood (I know it is fake, but bear with me through this analogy) there are vampires. I guess I could use Twilight as my analogy too...ANYWAY. So, obviously, vampires live forever. Right? Unless they are killed, but that is beside the point. But, the vampires usually find their soulmates.
THIS WOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE IF THEY WEREN'T VAMPIRES.
Lets take Edward for example. He is what, 104 years old? And he finds Bella when she is 17? They are "soulmates" (shut up Jacob lovers) but they would have never found eachother if Edward wasn't a vampire.

You get my drift?

Bella would have never met Edward, and she never would have found her soulmate.
Now, reality. If I have a soulmate, he could have existed 100, 1,000 years ago, or he might come 100 years in the future, but I WILL NEVER FIND HIM.
Ya?

Am I making any sense?

(Don't worry, I'm a Jacob fan, but I know what you mean with the vampire reference. I believe Jacob and Edward both soul mates of Bella's - just like Bella realized in Eclipse - but she just has to choose which path to take.)

I'm torn. On one hand, I would love to think there's someone out there for everybody. On the other hand, most people die without ever finding their one. Or maybe they do find them and they just miss an opportunity, or they let them go because they're scared. I'm not sure. I'd say yes, because sometimes we don't open up our eyes enough to realize our soul mates could be right in front of us, and that may be the reason so many people die alone every day. Most of us are cowards like that by nature, I think. Neutral

Your soulmate is someone you're destined to be with. and if you're "destined" to be with him or her, you'll eventually find them. Well, some people never get the chance... But he is out there somewhere, and if hes really your soulmate, you'll find him if you live a long life.

(and no, I am not thinking I will never find "the one" I was just wanting to explain my thinking about "soulmates")

It all seems impossible because if you take the whole population of the world (6 BILLION +) and then all the places in the world, it doesn't seem like the odds are in anyones favor...

I dont know what I think honestly. Because its such a complex subject and theres like so many theories that I don't know which to believe!

hmm... I don't know. I think there may be more than one "soul mate" for everyone. If there were only one in the entire world, there would be a really small chance of finding them.

yes, and it would most definitely be the hardest choice of your life...

I really hope it never happens to me. (not the finding the soulmate thing but the choice thing)

I dont know... two soulmates? Seems kinda... impossible to me. Someone might think they love two people the same but deep deep inside there's only place for one. That's deep. Shocked
